The World Boxing Championships is owned by World Boxing and GB Boxing has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2025 edition. 

 

The event will be delivered by a local organising committee which reports to a Steering Group that oversees strategic direction and operational delivery.

 

The Steering Group is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the championships; creating a world class competition environment for participants; and ensuring the event has a positive impact on local communities in Liverpool and Merseyside.

 

It is made up of representatives from each of the key stakeholders and three independent members selected by an open recruitment process. The three independent members are Jason Harborow, who will chair the group, Hilary Lissenden from the University of East London and 2020 Team GB Olympic bronze medallist, Frazer Clarke.

  • Director of Operations, John Timms.

The aims and ambition of the Steering Group and the Local Organising Committee are to delivery:

  • A showcase for boxers from across the world to reach their full potential

  • A championships which inspires and unites boxing communities globally, nationally and locally

  • A championships with sustainability and social responsibility at its heart

  • A championships which showcases World Boxing as a world leading international federation and supports its mission to ensure that boxing remains at the heart of the Olympic movement​​
